Hospital Collaboration

Delivering an electronic patient care record (ePCR) to the receiving hospital provides some challenges that depend upon hardware, software, and access to the Internet. emsCharts has developed a wide variety of ways to accomplish this and are sure to have a solution that suits the needs of your agency and your receiving facilities.

Please view the Chart Delivery page to view the various methods that emsCharts can connect with your facilities.

HL7 Interface

Health Level Seven (HL7) is a standard for the exchange, management, and integration of electronic healthcare information.  Using the HL7 format, emsCharts has developed custom interfaces with many hospital electronic medical record (EMR) systems to exchange electronic data between the ePCR and the hospital record.  emsCharts can accept an HL7 feed to import Admit, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) data back into the emsCharts medical record, thus replacing the common practice of the crews waiting for a face sheet from the ER registrars.  The feed automatically updates the prehospital medical record's with the receiving hospital's Medical Record Number and Account Number.

HL7 Interface Features

  • Interface creates a secure connection to auto-populate hospital electronic medical record (EMR) software (unidirectional flow) and emsCharts software (bi-directional flow)
  • Accepts an HL7 feed to import Admit, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) data back into the emsCharts medical record, thus replacing the common practice of the crews waiting for a face sheet from the ER registrars.
  • Outbound feed: Exports ePCR data to hospital EMR.  Real time, secure, and encrypted.

HL7 Interfaces to hospital EMR require custom development.  If you're interested in an interface to your hospital EMR, please contact emsCharts, Inc. to go over details and to request a cost estimation.
